Waveshare Pico Zero RP2040 Microcontroller Development Board

The Waveshare Pico Zero is a compact, high-performance microcontroller board powered by the Raspberry Pi RP2040 chip. Featuring a dual-core Arm Cortex M0+ processor and a modern USB-C interface, it enables simple drag-and-drop programming using mass storage over USB. It is well suited to students, makers, and embedded electronics enthusiasts building custom projects.

Processing and on-board memory

The board is powered by the Raspberry Pi RP2040 dual-core Arm Cortex M0+ processor with a flexible clock running up to 133 MHz. It includes 264KB of SRAM and 2MB of on-board Flash memory, alongside hardware-accelerated floating-point libraries.

Connectivity and programming

A modern USB-C connector provides power and communication, supporting USB 1.1 device and host modes. Firmware updates are straightforward thanks to drag-and-drop programming over USB mass storage.

Input, output and peripherals

The module features 29 multi-function GPIO pins, with 20 routed to the edge pinout and the rest available via solder points. Peripherals include 2 SPI, 2 I2C, 2 UART, 4 12-bit ADC channels, 16 controllable PWM channels, and an on-chip temperature sensor.

Carrier board integration

Castellated edges allow the board to be soldered directly to custom carrier boards. Eight Programmable I/O state machines are built in to provide flexible custom peripheral support.
