URM15 - 75KHZ Ultrasonic Sensor (30~500cm, RS485)

The URM15 is a high-precision ultrasonic distance sensor featuring an IP65 waterproof probe and a 30cm to 500cm measuring range. Communicating via RS485 with Modbus-RTU protocol support, it is ideally suited for makers, engineering students, and developers building robust industrial automation and sensing projects.

Focused beam angle and sensitivity

The sensor incorporates a 40mm diameter 75KHz acoustic transducer that produces a narrow 20±2° directional angle. This focused radiation profile provides high sensitivity while reducing measurement interference from peripheral obstacles.

Industrial RS485 communication

Data output uses an RS485 interface running the standard Modbus-RTU protocol for dependable transmission. Slave addresses and serial communication parameters are fully configurable to simplify integration with industrial controllers.

IP65 waterproof probe protection

Designed to operate in challenging environments, the sensor probe features an IP65 ingress protection rating against dust and moisture. It supports an operating temperature range of -10℃ to +70℃ and humidity levels under 75% RH.

Dual temperature compensation

To mitigate the effect of ambient temperature changes on sound speed, users can select between onboard or external temperature compensation. This keeps distance measurement error within ±1% with a resolution of 10mm across the entire 30cm to 500cm range.

Key electrical specifications

The module operates on a 5V to 12V DC supply with a maximum instantaneous current of 350mA. It updates readings at a 10 Hz measuring frequency and includes temperature measurement accurate to ±1℃ with 0.1℃ resolution.
