URM08 - Waterproof Industrial Ultrasonic Distance Sensor (35~550cm, ModBus-RTU)

The URM08 is a rugged industrial ultrasonic distance sensor featuring an RS485 ModBus-RTU interface and a working detection range from 35 cm to 550 cm. Built with an IP65-rated metal enclosure and onboard temperature compensation, it suits engineers, makers, and students developing automated guided vehicles, vehicle collision detection, or liquid-level monitoring systems.

Accurate long-range detection

The sensor measures distances from 35 cm up to 550 cm with a 1 cm resolution and ±1% accuracy. It features a fast 70 ms measurement period to deliver stable, real-time feedback with a reduced blind zone.

Rugged IP65 metal housing

Constructed with a fully enclosed metal exterior, the sensor offers robust dustproof, waterproof, and corrosion-resistant performance. Its IP65 ingress protection ensures dependable operation in harsh industrial and outdoor environments.

Integrated temperature compensation

Internal temperature measurement allows the sensor to compensate for ambient temperature shifts between -10 °C and 70 °C. The unit reports temperature data with a 0.1 °C resolution and ±1 °C accuracy.

Directional beam coverage

Operating at an acoustic frequency of 38 kHz to 42 kHz, the sensor provides a 60° direction angle for reliable obstacle and barrier detection.

Industrial ModBus-RTU interface

Data communication is handled over an RS485 ModBus-RTU serial bus for high noise immunity over long wiring runs. The module operates from a DC 6.0 V to 12.0 V power supply with an operating current of 250 mA.

Supplied hardware accessories

Each unit comes complete with two mounting screw nuts, two metal pads, and a compatible adaptor wire for convenient mechanical and electrical installation.
