Ultrasonic Distance Ranging Obstacle Avoidance Sensor (5m, RS485, IP67)

This 5-metre ultrasonic distance ranging sensor delivers accurate obstacle detection and proximity sensing for robotics and automation projects. Designed for makers, students, and engineers, it combines robust RS485 communication with intelligent signal filtering to ensure stable performance in complex environments.

Long-range precision detection

The sensor measures distances from 3cm to 500cm with an accuracy of 1 + (S * 0.3%) cm. It features a minimal blind zone along with directional detection angles of 40-65 degrees horizontally and 60-80 degrees vertically.

Intelligent noise filtering

Built-in ultrasound processing technology identifies and filters out foreign ultrasound signals. This significantly reduces same-frequency interference, resulting in reliable and stable data output in busy industrial or robotic environments.

RS485 interface and broad voltage support

The module uses an industrial-standard RS485 output and can easily connect to microcontrollers via an Arduino TTL to RS485 expansion board. It operates across a wide 3.3V to 24V supply range with a low working current of 10mA or less.

Rugged IP67 waterproof housing

With an IP67 rating, the sensor is fully protected against dust and water ingress. It operates reliably across temperature ranges from -25 degrees Celsius to 65 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor installations.

Fast response for automated systems

Offering rapid response times between 15ms and 750ms, this module is well suited for dynamic applications. Common use cases include mobile robot obstacle avoidance, parking management systems, access control, and security gate presence detection.
