Description
The TFmini-i is an industrial-grade single-point solid-state LiDAR sensor offering up to 12m of detection range over an RS485 interface. With an IP65 weatherproof housing and wide operating voltage, it is an ideal choice for robotics engineers, makers, and educators building outdoor navigation, obstacle avoidance, and altimetry systems.
Rugged and compact enclosure
Measuring only 50mm by 34mm by 41mm and weighing 52g, the sensor features a durable PC, ABS, and PMMA housing rated to IP65 for water and dust resistance. It has passed drone-level vibration testing, making it resilient enough for challenging mechanical and outdoor deployments.

Flexible integration and protocols
The sensor communicates via standard RS485 and supports Pixhawk as well as custom output protocols. It connects easily to microcontrollers such as the Arduino UNO R3 via a TTL-to-RS485 shield or to a Raspberry Pi using a USB-to-RS485 module.

Pulse time-of-flight ranging
Operating on Pulse Time of Flight (PTOF) principles, the unit emits an 850nm VCSEL laser pulse and measures its return using an APD detector. It delivers medium-range detection from 0.1m to 12m with a 2-degree field of view and an adjustable frame rate up to 1KHz.

Autonomous and industrial applications
Engineered for vehicle and pedestrian detection, collision avoidance, and safety systems, the sensor is also well-suited for UAV altitude holding and automated landing. Its light and temperature compensation algorithms maintain dependable readings in changing conditions.

Safe and wide power tolerance
The sensor accepts a 7V to 30V DC input range with integrated reverse polarity protection to prevent damage from supply fluctuations. It provides 70Klux ambient light immunity and functions reliably across operating temperatures from -20°C to 60°C.
