The SRF05 Ultrasonic Distance Sensor is a compact, high-precision ranging module capable of measuring distances from 1 cm to 4 metres using 40 kHz sonar pulses. Designed for straightforward TTL integration with platforms like Arduino, it is an essential component for students, makers, and roboticists building obstacle avoidance systems and smart automation projects.

Accurate 1 cm to 4 m ranging

Building on earlier ultrasonic designs, this module provides non-contact distance measurement from 1 cm up to 4 metres. Its focused 40 kHz ultrasonic beam delivers reliable detection for mobile robots and spatial monitoring systems.

High sensitivity for thin obstacles

The sensor features narrow side lobes capable of identifying small cylindrical targets, such as a 3 cm diameter handle, at distances beyond 2 metres. This acute sensitivity enables autonomous systems to reliably detect thin obstacles in dynamic environments.

Straightforward TTL trigger and echo

The module initiates measurement with a standard 10 microsecond TTL pulse and outputs an echo pulse with a duration proportional to distance. This simple digital signalling connects directly to development boards such as Arduino without complex interface circuitry.

Compact low-power 5 V design

Operating at a standard 5 V supply with a typical current draw of 30 mA and a 50 mA maximum, the sensor is energy-efficient for battery-powered projects. The compact 43 mm by 20 mm by 17 mm footprint fits easily into tight chassis and embedded enclosures.
