Description
The RS485 Photoelectric Solar Radiation Sensor is a rugged outdoor instrument designed to measure solar irradiance across the 400 to 1100nm spectral band. Featuring Modbus-RTU communication over RS485 and a wide 5 to 30V DC input, it is ideal for students, makers, and engineers building photovoltaic monitoring systems, agricultural setups, and weather stations.
Broad-spectrum solar irradiance measurement
Using a high-precision photoelectric element, the sensor accurately converts sunlight into electrical signals across a 400 to 1100nm wavelength range. It delivers a measurement span of 0 to 1800W/m² with a resolution of 1W/m² and ±5% accuracy.
Integrated high-transmittance dust cover
An integrated optical dust cover provides up to 95% light transmittance to minimise environmental interference. The cover is specially treated to resist dust accumulation, ensuring reliable and stable long-term readings.

Rugged IP67 aluminium housing
Housed in a sturdy metal aluminium enclosure, the sensor is rated IP67 for weather resistance against moisture and dust. It is built to operate reliably in harsh outdoor environments from -25°C to +60°C.
Modbus-RTU output and wide voltage
The sensor communicates using standard RS485 Modbus-RTU for seamless interfacing with microcontrollers like Arduino and industrial logging systems. It operates on a wide DC 5 to 30V supply while drawing less than 10mA of current.
Versatile environmental applications
This instrument is suited for monitoring solar array efficiency, agricultural crop growth, and meteorological trends. It is equally effective for plant physiology research and ecological field studies.
Complete connection hardware included
The package provides the solar radiation sensor with a 20cm integrated cable, a 70cm adapter cable, and a mounting screw set for quick installation.
