Description

The RS485 MODBUS-RTU Soil NPK Sensor measures nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium levels to help maintain balanced soil fertility. Operating on a wide 5 to 30V DC supply, it is ideal for precision farming, automated greenhouse projects, and maker research setups.

Microcontroller and RS485 integration

The sensor uses the standard RS485 MODBUS-RTU protocol for stable data output and operates from a 5 to 30V DC power source. It can be directly connected to an Arduino Uno using a TTL to RS485 converter for automated data logging.

Rugged 316 stainless steel probe

Constructed with 316 stainless steel electrodes and vacuum-sealed in black flame-retardant epoxy resin, this sensor achieves an IP68 waterproof rating. It resists rust, salt-alkali corrosion, and long-term electrolysis, allowing for continuous underground installation.

NPK measurement for plant health

The probe measures nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium levels across a 0 to 2999 mg/kg range with a resolution of 1 mg/kg. These readings provide essential reference data to monitor nutrient availability for root development, foliage growth, and overall crop yield.

Designed for versatility, the sensor is well suited for agricultural irrigation systems, greenhouse cultivation, hydroponics, and pasture management. It also serves as an effective testing probe for soil science experiments and grain storage facilities.

Compact enclosure and specifications

Measuring 123 by 45 by 15 mm with a 2-metre cable, the unit operates efficiently between 0°C and 55°C while drawing just 0.15W at 12V. The package includes one RS485 Soil NPK sensor.
