Description
The RPLiDAR S3 is a compact 360-degree Time-of-Flight (TOF) laser range scanner delivering a 40-metre detection range and a high-speed 32 kHz sampling rate. Built with 80,000 lux ambient light immunity and an IP65 protection rating, it provides reliable spatial awareness in both indoor and outdoor settings. It is an ideal navigation and mapping sensor for robotics students, makers, and AGV developers.
SL-TOF distance measurement technology
Powered by SLAMTEC self-developed Direct Time-of-Flight technology, the scanner enhances ranging accuracy and ambient light tolerance. It reliably generates precise distance data across diverse, dynamic environments.

Extended 40-metre scanning range
The RPLiDAR S3 maintains a stable 40-metre measurement radius on surfaces with 70% reflectivity. This extended distance capability satisfies the requirements of medium- to long-range scanning and SLAM mapping tasks.

Reliable low-reflectivity target detection
The sensor accurately detects low-reflectivity objects, such as black doors and anti-reflective coatings, up to 15 metres away at 10% reflectivity. It also features a minimal 0.05-metre blind zone for close-proximity detection.

High-speed 32,000 Hz sampling rate
Capturing 32,000 samples per second, the unit produces dense point cloud data for rapid positioning and obstacle detection. It runs at a typical 10 Hz scanning frequency with a fine angular resolution of 0.1125 degrees.

80,000 lux ambient light resistance
Hardware-level optical optimisations allow the scanner to withstand up to 80,000 lux of ambient light. This ensures stable laser ranging under bright indoor lighting or direct outdoor sunlight.

Ultra-compact four-centimetre profile
Standing only 4 cm high, this is SLAMTEC's most compact LiDAR sensor. Its small footprint makes it easy to integrate into space-limited mobile robots, UAVs, and educational robotic platforms.

Multi-platform SDK and interface support
The scanner connects via a high-speed TTL UART interface operating at 1M baud. SLAMTEC provides comprehensive SDK packages compatible with x86 Windows, x86 Linux, and ARM Linux systems.

Eye-safe Class 1 laser standard
Utilising a modulated pulsed low-power infrared laser source, the sensor meets the IEC-60825 Class 1 laser safety standard. This guarantees safe human eye exposure during continuous operation.
