Description
The Slamtec RPLiDAR S2L is a 360-degree Direct Time-of-Flight laser range scanner delivering an 18-metre radius and high-speed 32 kHz sampling. Engineered with an IP65 protective housing and strong ambient light tolerance, it provides stable mapping performance in both indoor and outdoor conditions. It is an ideal obstacle detection and navigation solution for robotics engineers, makers, and commercial AGV developers.
Direct time-of-flight ranging technology
Slamtec Direct Time-of-Flight technology maintains consistent measurement resolution across the entire range. This ranging method enables the sensor to reliably detect challenging targets, including dark objects, high-reflectivity mirrors, and transparent glass.

Extended 18-metre measurement radius
With a scanning radius of up to 18 metres for white targets and 8 metres for black objects, the scanner accommodates large indoor spaces and commercial layouts. It provides ample range for autonomous mapping in venues such as shopping malls, offices, and warehouses.

High-speed 32 kHz sampling rate
An optimised optical design and measurement system allow the sensor to collect up to 32,000 range samples per second at a 10 Hz scanning frequency. This rapid data acquisition captures fine environmental outlines for responsive obstacle avoidance and real-time mapping.

Sunlight resistance up to 80,000 lux
The sensor operates smoothly in outdoor environments with ambient light resistance exceeding 80,000 lux. It delivers dependable range data under direct sunlight as well as in varied indoor lighting conditions.

Accurate tracking across varied surfaces
Achieving a ranging accuracy of plus or minus 30 mm and a 13 mm ranging resolution, the unit ensures stable measurements across materials with diverse surface reflectivity. It provides reliable position feedback even when facing polished or mirrored surfaces.

Compact low-profile enclosure
Measuring 77 by 77 by 38.5 mm with an optical scanning zone height of only 18 mm, the sensor fits easily into compact robot chassis. Weighing 190 grams, it integrates cleanly into low-profile automated platforms.

Seamless drop-in upgrade path
The unit shares the standard interface port used by Slamtec A-series LiDARs, allowing direct upgrades without extensive hardware or software redesigns. It communicates via a high-speed 1 Mbps TTL UART interface on a standard 5V power supply.

Industrial IP65 enclosed protection
A rugged outer cover seals the internal optics and mechanical parts against dust and water ingress to an IP65 rating. The unit meets IEC-60825 Class 1 laser safety standards, making it well-suited for industrial automation and AGV deployment.
