Description

The RPLIDAR A1M8-R6 is an entry-level 360-degree 2D laser scanner delivering up to 12 metres of range and 8000 samples per second. It provides an accessible laser triangulation solution for students, hobbyists, and robotics developers building autonomous navigation systems.

The sensor core rotates clockwise to deliver a full 360-degree 2D scan across a 12-metre radius. It produces real-time point cloud data suitable for environment mapping, obstacle detection, and object modelling.

High-speed laser triangulation

Utilising Slamtec high-speed vision acquisition hardware, the unit samples distance measurements over 8000 times per second. This rapid data collection allows mobile robots to map surroundings quickly and reliably.

Durable OPTMAG optical technology

Unlike traditional mechanical slip rings that wear out over time, the OPTMAG design uses wireless power and optical communication. This contactless setup eliminates physical electrical wear to significantly extend device lifespan.

Configurable motor scan rate

The scanning frequency is adjustable from 2 Hz to 10 Hz by altering the motor PWM signal. Operating at the standard 5.5 Hz rate, the sensor samples 1450 distance points per revolution.
