Description
The Romeo V2 is an all-in-one Arduino Leonardo-compatible robot control board designed specifically for robotics applications and extended hardware setups. It integrates an ATmega32u4 microcontroller with a dual DC motor driver, stepper motor drive capabilities, and wireless expansion sockets. This board is well suited to robotics students, educators, and makers looking to build compact robotic platforms without stacking multiple shields.
ATmega32u4 processing and dual serial
Powered by the ATmega32u4 chip running the Arduino Leonardo bootloader, the board handles native USB communication directly and supports USB-HID emulation. Dual hardware serial ports allow you to upload sketches through the Arduino IDE without disconnecting attached wireless modules.
Integrated DC and stepper motor control
The onboard motor driver delivers up to 2A continuous output current across two DC motor channels to power mobile chassis. The controller also supports driving a single stepper motor with up to 2A maximum current.
Dedicated wireless module sockets
Built-in sockets directly accommodate XBee, XBee-form-factor Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, APC220 RF, and DF-Bluetooth modules. This enables seamless wireless telemetry and remote control without requiring extra add-on shields.
Flexible power supply options
The board operates from micro USB power or an external 6V to 23V DC power source with auto-sensing input switching. A dedicated power switch allows control over system power directly from the external motor supply.
Comprehensive sensor and interface expansion
The board features Arduino R3 pin mapping, colour-coded 3-pin analog sensor headers, three I2C/TWI pin sets, and 3 digital I/O extensions. Five onboard key input switches replace traditional jumpers to facilitate GPIO testing.
