Description

The Robotics and Power IO Extender is an expansion board designed for the UNIHIKER K10 and BBC micro:bit. It breaks out all mainboard IO pins and adds dedicated high-current power rails for actuators and AI cameras. It is well suited to students, educators, and hobbyists building advanced robotics and AI vision projects.

Dedicated high-current servo interfaces

Four dedicated servo ports (S0 to S3) draw power directly from the main 5V Type-C input rather than the development board regulator. This independent rail provides steady current to operate up to four servos simultaneously without jitter or brownouts.

Direct power for HuskyLens AI

A dedicated 5V I2C interface supplies stable power directly from the main input to the HuskyLens AI Vision Sensor. This prevents power-related crashes during current-heavy processing tasks such as object and face recognition.

Multi-functional sensor and IO ports

Four multi-functional C-ports (C0 to C3) handle both analogue and digital signals with clear silk-screen labelling. They are pre-configured for direct readings from common sensors such as the 18B20, DHT11, and DHT22.

Cross-platform support and safe power

The board works with both micro:bit V1 and V2 alongside the UNIHIKER K10. The MicroUSB and Type-C input ports are spaced apart to prevent accidental dual-connection, and an onboard passive buzzer on pin P0 includes a physical toggle switch.

Board layout and mounting dimensions

The extender includes 19 digital IO pins at 3.3V logic, three total I2C interfaces, a main power switch, and a red power LED. The unit measures 66 mm by 50 mm by 12 mm with 3.1 mm mounting holes spaced 55 mm apart.
