Description
The Pixy 2 CMUcam5 is a compact, high-speed vision sensor designed to give autonomous robotics projects instant sight. It processes image data on-board at 60 frames per second, making it ideal for students, educators, and makers building colour-tracking or line-following robots. Easily teach it new objects with a single button press or integrate it with popular development boards.
Line tracking and sign recognition
Pixy2 includes algorithms tailored for line-following robots, allowing it to detect lines, intersections, and small barcode road signs. These road signs can provide direction markers such as turning commands or speed adjustments, all processed at 60 frames per second.
Direct Arduino and Raspberry Pi connection
Connect directly to an Arduino using the supplied cable or to a Raspberry Pi via USB without complex wiring. It also supports SPI, I2C, UART, digital, and analogue interfaces for broad microcontroller compatibility.

Simplified programming and filtered output
Dedicated software libraries output only the essential data your program requires, such as X-Y coordinates, object sizes, and unique IDs. This removes the processing load of raw video feeds from your main microcontroller.

One-button colour object detection
Teach the sensor to identify objects simply by holding them in front of the lens and pressing the onboard button. Integrated tracking algorithms monitor multiple coloured objects simultaneously as they move.
Dual-core processing and integrated illumination
Equipped with an NXP LPC4330 204 MHz dual-core processor and an Aptina MT9M114 sensor with a 60-degree horizontal field of view. It also features a built-in light source providing approximately 20 lumens of illumination.
Package contents and mounting care
The kit includes the Pixy 2 CMUcam5 sensor, an FC-10P to FC-6P cable, and a mounting screw pack. Take care not to overtighten the camera during installation to avoid damaging the sensor chip.
