Pirate - 4WD Mobile Platform for Arduino

The Pirate 4WD Mobile Platform is a rugged, aluminium robot chassis designed for Arduino and Romeo-based development. Powered by four DC micro-speed motors, it provides a stable and versatile base for robotics students, hobbyists, and competition participants tackling diverse indoor and outdoor terrains.

High-strength aluminium alloy chassis

Constructed from durable aluminium alloy, the platform is built to withstand rapid motion across outdoor surfaces such as grass, gravel, sand, and slopes. The robust frame protects mounted electronics and gearing while significantly extending operational lifespan.

Four-wheel drive geared powertrain

Equipped with four DC motors operating across a 3V to 7.5V range, the platform reaches speeds of up to 90 cm/s. The 4WD configuration ensures steady traction and responsive movement for mobile research and robotics projects.

Modular multi-level layout

An included upper deck provides dedicated space for expanding your sensor payload, microcontrollers, and custom circuit modules. A pre-cut rectangular mounting hole allows for simple installation of a servo to drive a pan-tilt camera or a robotic arm.

Protected underside compartment

The sturdy lower casing shields the internal motors and battery pack from ground debris and impact damage. This enclosed layout keeps essential power and drive components securely contained during operation.

Hardware compatibility and dimensions

Measuring 200 x 170 x 105 mm, the chassis pairs natively with DFRobot Romeo all-in-one microcontrollers and standard Arduino hardware. Please note that motor encoders are not compatible with this specific platform.
