mmWave Radar - 24GHz Human Presence Detection Sensor (9 Meters)

The 24GHz mmWave Human Presence Detection Sensor accurately detects both static presence and movement within an adjustable range of up to 9 metres. Using high-frequency radar technology, it tracks stationary individuals where traditional PIR sensors fail and remains unaffected by ambient light, temperature shifts, or environmental noise. It is an ideal solution for makers, educators, and hobbyists building occupancy-driven smart home systems and robotics projects.

Flexible horizontal detection

The sensor supports horizontal mounting to cover open spaces up to 9 metres away with a 100 by 40 degree beam angle. It allows users to configure adjustable sensing areas to monitor rooms, entryways, or target zones with high precision.

Overhead ceiling installation

Top-mounted installation provides targeted occupancy tracking directly over specific areas such as desks, cubicles, or beds. The 24GHz radar waves can penetrate light materials like clothing and timber panels to reliably detect people sitting or sleeping.

Compact coin-sized footprint

Measuring only 24 by 28 millimetres, the module easily embeds into space-constrained enclosures, smart appliances, or custom builds. It operates on a 3.6V to 5V supply with a 90mA operating current across a wide temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.

Smart home and multi-sensor integration

The module easily combines with ambient light, temperature, and environmental sensors for automated lighting, HVAC control, or robotics. Communication and triggering are supported via a serial port at 115200 baud as well as direct digital I/O switching.

Robust anti-interference radar sensing

Employing FMCW and CW modulation modes at 24GHz, the radar provides exceptional sensitivity to subtle breathing and micro-movements. It resists false triggers caused by dust, haze, humidity, airflow, and fluctuating lighting conditions.
