Description
The mmWave 80GHz Liquid Level Detection Sensor is a high-precision, non-contact FMCW radar module engineered to measure distances from 0.15m up to 40m with ±5mm accuracy. It suits engineers, makers, and educators developing smart water management systems, disaster warning stations, and industrial tank monitoring solutions.
Long-range precision measurement
Operating across a 0.15m to 40m range, the sensor provides ±5mm accuracy with 1mm resolution for granular data logging. Its fast 100ms startup time enables rapid data capture in automated control and alert systems.
Narrow beam focusing lens
The fitted custom lens concentrates the 77 to 81GHz signal into a narrow ±3° beam angle horizontally and vertically. This directivity significantly minimizes interference from tank walls, internal structures, and agitators.
Resilient FMCW modulation
Advanced FMCW radar technology ensures reliable operation regardless of temperature swings, atmospheric pressure, dust, steam, or fog. Onboard anti-interference algorithms maintain consistent target tracking even in high-reflection environments.
Non-contact industrial monitoring
Because the module mounts overhead without touching the fluid, it avoids corrosion from hazardous chemicals and prevents fluid contamination. It is suited to river level tracking, sewage overflow alerts, flood prevention systems, and industrial storage tanks.

Modbus UART and power efficiency
The module operates on 3.5V to 5V with a modest 30mA current draw and outputs telemetry over UART via the Modbus protocol. Designed for demanding conditions, it is rated for operating temperatures between -45°C and +85°C.
Included interface cables
Each package includes the 80GHz radar module with its pre-installed lens, a 1.25mm 6-pin to bare wire cable, and a 1.25mm 6-pin to Dupont cable for easy integration with standard microcontrollers.
