mmwave - 24GHz Microwave Radar Distance Sensor (20 Meters)

The mmwave 24GHz Microwave Radar Distance Sensor is a compact K-band ranging module capable of detecting objects up to 20 metres away using FMCW modulation. Designed for makers, students, and engineers, it provides reliable target tracking through environmental obstacles like dust and fog.

Precise FMCW distance measurement

Using 24GHz K-band FMCW modulation with isolated transmitter and receiver antennas, the sensor measures distances from 0.5 to 20 metres. It delivers a range resolution of 0.01 metres and a measurement accuracy of ±0.1 metres at a 10Hz update rate.

Resilient sensing in harsh conditions

Microwave radio waves penetrate dust, smoke, fog, and most non-metallic materials without degrading measurement accuracy. This makes the radar suitable for outdoor and industrial environments where optical or ultrasonic sensors struggle.

Multi-target detection support

The sensor can track multiple targets simultaneously within its field of view. Users can adjust the operating mode to access and process raw distance spectral information for complex spatial monitoring.

Simple asynchronous serial communication

All signal processing is handled on-board, outputting direct distance readings over an asynchronous serial interface at 57600 bps. The 3.3V TTL logic level allows seamless connection with Arduino boards, microcontrollers, or host computers.

Compact profile for diverse projects

Weighing just 8 grams and measuring 34mm by 44mm by 5mm, the module integrates easily into size-constrained designs. It is suited for applications such as UAV obstacle avoidance, automotive reversing alerts, automatic door openers, and passenger flow monitoring.
