mmWave - 24GHz Human Presence Sensing Module (6 Meters)

The mmWave 24GHz Human Presence Sensing Module is a high-sensitivity FMCW radar designed to detect moving, micro-moving, and stationary human targets up to 6 metres away. It provides accurate presence detection and distance tracking without being affected by ambient light, temperature, or humidity. This compact sensor is ideal for students, makers, and engineers creating responsive smart lighting, home automation, and security projects.

FMCW presence and distance tracking

Operating across 24GHz to 24.25GHz with FMCW modulation, the module accurately detects both active movement and static human presence. It calculates target distance within a 0.75m to 6m range at a resolution of 0.75m, with a 30cm blind zone.

Enclosure penetration and environmental immunity

Radar signals penetrate non-metallic materials, allowing the sensor to operate concealed inside enclosures without external openings. Performance remains stable regardless of changes in ambient brightness, temperature, or humidity.

Dual UART and GPIO interfaces

The module outputs real-time detection results via 3.3V GPIO high/low logic or a 57600 baud UART serial interface. Serial commands allow you to configure sensing distance ranges, interval sensitivity, and trigger delay times for your controller.

Compact footprint and wide voltage

With an ultra-narrow 7mm by 35mm profile, this board easily fits into tight spaces and includes an SH 1.27mm to DuPont 2.54mm connector. It operates reliably on a wide 5V to 12V DC input with an average current draw of 80mA.

Wide field of view for smart systems

A wide detection angle of 120 degrees (plus or minus 60 degrees) delivers comprehensive indoor coverage. It is well-suited for automated light switching, advertising display wake-up, UV light control, and security sensing.
