Description
The micro: IoT is a versatile expansion board designed to simplify Internet of Things projects for the BBC micro:bit. Equipped with on-board Wi-Fi, an OLED display, and multiple actuator interfaces, it provides an accessible platform for students, teachers, and makers. It lowers the barrier to IoT development through straightforward integration with MakeCode, Mind+, and Python.
On-board Wi-Fi and OLED display
The board features integrated Wi-Fi connectivity and an on-board OLED screen to display and upload live sensor telemetry. It is designed to work seamlessly with the DFRobot Easy IoT platform and supports web integrations such as IFTTT for sending emails, SMS, and notes.
Integrated motor and servo control
Dedicated on-board drivers support two DC motors and two servos, complemented by three RGB LEDs and an integrated buzzer. These built-in outputs let you construct automated systems such as smart watering devices, motorized airers, and environmental regulators.
Classroom-ready IoT educational design
Shaped like a cloud to match IoT concepts, the board includes protective PMMA packaging to safeguard internal components during hands-on student handling. It offers a clear, visual platform for teaching topics such as weather stations, access control systems, and traffic analysis.

Extensive Gravity IO and expansion
A 6-way IO interface exposes micro:bit pins P0, P1, P2, P8, P12, and P16 using standard Gravity connectors, alongside two IIC ports and a serial interface. The board supports MakeCode, Mind+, and Python to accommodate different coding skill levels.
Rechargeable battery and safety circuits
Power is provided through an external power interface or an on-board battery holder designed for a 3.6V CR123A rechargeable lithium battery with built-in charging. Short-circuit and reverse-connection protection circuits are included to prevent damage during use.
