Description
The micro:Driver is a dedicated motor and servo expansion board designed for the BBC micro:bit, UNIHIKER M10, and K10. Driven over I2C to save microcontroller pins, it is ideal for students, educators, and hobbyists building robotics and multi-actuator maker projects.
Versatile motor and stepper drive
Powered by an HR8833 motor driver chip, the board can drive up to four DC motors or two stepper motors with a maximum continuous current of 1.5A. Each motor port includes directional LED indicators to visually monitor rotation polarity during operation.
Eight servo ports and Gravity GPIO
The board features eight servo interfaces connected directly to the Vin supply to deliver sufficient current for multiple simultaneous servos. It also exposes nine micro:bit GPIO interfaces using standard DFRobot-Gravity connectors for quick sensor integration.
I2C control preserves microcontroller pins
An onboard I2C driver chip handles all motor and servo control commands while consuming only two I2C communication pins. This leaves the remaining onboard pins completely free for other modules and sensors.
Flexible power supply options
Supporting an input range from 3.5V to 5.5V, the board features both a DC 2.1 socket and screw wiring terminals. It includes a USB to DC 2.1 adapter cable for convenient operation with standard portable power banks.
Compact form factor and package contents
Measuring 63 x 58 mm, the board fits neatly into small robotics chassis and N20 motor projects. The package includes one driver expansion board and one USB to DC 2.1 power cable.
