micro: Breadboard

The micro: Breadboard is a micro:bit expansion shield designed for STEM beginners to build circuits and learn coding without soldering. It includes an attachable medium-sized breadboard and dual-header pinouts, making it an ideal prototyping base for students, educators, and hobbyists.

Solderless circuit building platform

The expansion shield comes with an independent 3.23 by 2.17 inch medium breadboard that adheres directly to the base. This setup lets learners quickly assemble, test, and reuse standard electronic components without soldering.

Dual pin and female headers

All 19 micro:bit IO pins (P0 to P16, P19, and P20) are broken out into both male pin headers and female sockets. Four dedicated power interfaces and four ground ports provide straightforward connectivity for multiple modules simultaneously.

Onboard controls and power switch

The board features an independent power switch, a power indicator LED, and onboard A and B buttons to expand user interaction. It accepts a standard 5V micro USB power input and operates across a 3.3V to 5V voltage range.

Versatile coding environment support

Users can program their projects using graphical block-based coding, Mind plus, or text-based Python. This broad software compatibility supports students transitioning from visual programming to advanced scripting.

STEM and automation projects

Designed for rapid circuit debugging, the shield serves as a foundation for practical micro:bit projects. Common applications include light-controlled lamps, smart doorbells, and temperature-activated alarms.

Robust physical layout

Measuring 16.2 cm by 7.2 cm, the board includes integrated M3 screw mounting holes for secure installation into project enclosures or robotic chassis.

Included package contents

The kit includes one micro:bit breadboard carrier board and one self-adhesive medium-sized breadboard.
