Description
The BBC micro:bit V2 is a pocket-sized programmable microcontroller designed to teach coding, electronics, and digital problem-solving. Packed with integrated sensors, wireless communication, and audio capabilities, it provides an accessible platform for students, educators, and hobbyists. It enables learners to create interactive projects while transitioning seamlessly from visual block coding to text-based languages.
Built-in hardware and sensors
Measuring half the size of a credit card, the micro:bit V2 includes a 5x5 red LED matrix, two programmable push buttons, an accelerometer, an electronic compass, a thermometer, and Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connectivity. These built-in components allow users to detect motion, measure environment data, and display visuals straight out of the box.

Integrated audio and touch input
Version 2 introduces an on-board MEMS microphone with an LED activity indicator, a built-in speaker, and a capacitive touch-sensitive logo. It also features a notched edge connector for secure crocodile clip connections, a dedicated power indicator LED, and a sleep mode that powers down the board while batteries remain connected.

Enhanced processing and memory
Powered by the Nordic Semiconductor nRF52833 processor, the V2 board includes 512kB flash memory and 128kB RAM to deliver expanded computing capacity. It supplies up to 200mA of current for external accessories and includes a dedicated I2C bus for peripheral communication.

Interactive physical computing projects
The board connects easily to external circuits via its 25-pin notched edge connector to read analogue sensor data and control servos or RGB light strips. It supports a wide range of practical applications, including wearable electronics, science experiments, electronic games, and custom robotics.

Microsoft MakeCode programming support
Learners can begin programming immediately in a web browser using the graphical Microsoft MakeCode block editor. The micro:bit platform also supports industry-standard text programming in Python, Scratch, and C++.

Mind+ dual-mode software
DFRobot Mind+ software accommodates both graphical block-based programming and text coding for learners. It provides integrated library support for over a hundred open-source hardware modules along with custom library expansion.

Compatible expansion boards and accessories
The micro:bit connects to a broad ecosystem of accessories including motor drivers, wireless gamepads, environmental sensor shields, and HuskyLens AI vision cameras. It is also directly compatible with mobile robot platforms like the micro:Maqueen Lite and dedicated IoT modules.

Comprehensive learning resources
Extensive structured course materials are available across 7 tutorial sets comprising 67 guided lessons. These resources assist educators and students in mastering foundational robotics, IoT cloud integration, and machine vision.
