Description
The Light & Motor Driver for Python (V1.0) is a versatile 10A single-channel PWM driver board designed to regulate DC motors, pumps, fans, and LED light strips. It supports four distinct control methods, allowing makers, educators, and engineers to operate loads via direct Python code, PC host software, UART communication, or a manual potentiometer. Operating across a wide 5V to 24V input range, it provides a flexible automation solution without requiring dedicated microcontroller boards or adapters.
Board layout and connections
The board features a high-current MOS drive stage, a USB Type-C port, a PH2.0-4P UART interface, and dedicated potentiometer terminals. An onboard start/stop button is also integrated for immediate hardware-level output toggling.

Dimensions and mounting
Measuring 37mm by 57mm, the compact PCB includes four 3.1mm mounting holes spaced at 30mm by 50mm. This standard footprint allows straightforward integration into custom enclosures, testing rigs, and robotic chassis.

Four versatile control modes
The driver supports direct Python scripting over USB, ready-to-use Windows host computer software, standard MODBUS protocol over UART, and direct external potentiometer adjustment. This flexibility accommodates both automated setups and standalone manual installations.
High-power motor and lighting control
Powered by a high-current MOSFET, the single-channel PWM driver handles 5V to 24V inputs and up to 10A load capacity. This output capability easily powers DC motors up to approximately 10W or LED light strips up to 5 metres in length.
Precise PWM signal configuration
The board allows fine-tuning with a PWM frequency range of 183Hz to 46875Hz and duty cycle adjustment from 0 to 255. These parameters enable smooth motor speed regulation, quiet fan operation, and flicker-free LED dimming.
Direct Python programming over USB
Connecting the Type-C USB interface to a Windows PC, Mac, Raspberry Pi, or LattePanda enables direct motor and lighting control through Python code. No additional development board, adapter, or complex driver installation is required.
