Description

This IP68-rated ultrasonic sensor is engineered specifically for underwater obstacle avoidance and distance measurement across a range of 5cm to 600cm. Operating on a wide 5 to 24V supply with UART output, it is an ideal sensing solution for makers, students, and engineers building autonomous underwater vehicles and marine robotics.

The sensor delivers precise ranging from 5cm up to 600cm with a narrow 8 to 16 degree detection angle and a fast 14ms response time. It is specifically calibrated for underwater operation and requires water immersion to provide accurate distance readings.

IP68 rated for deep submersion

Featuring an IP68 waterproof rating, the module operates reliably at depths down to 10 metres. It can replace optical cameras to enable autonomous navigation and collision avoidance at typical underwater vehicle speeds.

Compact form with minimal blind zone

A minimal blind zone starting at just 5cm paired with a compact, lightweight housing allows easy integration into space-constrained hulls. It fits smoothly into compact ROVs and custom marine enclosures.

Wide voltage and UART interface

The module accepts an input voltage between 5V and 24V DC while drawing 10mA or less during operation and under 1mA in standby. It outputs data through a UART controlled interface for simple communication with microcontrollers and flight computers.

Submersible robotics and depth sensing

Primary applications include collision avoidance and self-control detection for unmanned underwater vehicles. It is also suitable for use as a downward-facing acoustic depth sounder.
