Description

The IP68 Underwater Ultrasonic Obstacle Avoidance Sensor is a compact sonar ranging module designed for submersible robotics and marine craft. Operating over a wide 5V to 24V supply, it delivers accurate distance readings from 2cm to 300cm directly through water. It is an ideal sensing solution for students, makers, and engineers building autonomous underwater vehicles.

The sensor measures distances from 2cm to 300cm with a narrow 5 to 10 degree beam angle. A rapid 10ms output response time ensures real-time feedback for moving underwater craft.

Rated at IP68, this sensor functions reliably at depths down to 10m to enable autonomous vehicle navigation without optical cameras. It allows submersibles to detect obstacles reliably in varied water conditions.

Compact footprint with small blind zone

With a compact body and minimal blind zone, the module easily integrates into space-restricted hulls. Note that the sensor requires water immersion to transmit ultrasound and return accurate data.

Robotics obstacle avoidance and sounding

The unit is designed for automated obstacle avoidance, self-control detection, and depth sounding on underwater robots. It outputs data via a standard UART controlled interface.

Wide supply voltage and low power draw

Operating across 5V to 24V DC, the sensor draws no more than 10mA in operation and 1mA in standby. It maintains performance across an operating temperature range of -15°C to 50°C.
