I2S Microphone Module

The I2S Microphone Module is a digital, omnidirectional MEMS audio sensor built around the MSM261S4030H0 chip with an integrated SK9822 RGB LED. It streams 24-bit digital sound directly to microcontrollers and DSPs without requiring an external audio codec. This board is an ideal choice for makers, students, and developers building voice control, near-field recording, or interactive sound projects.

Direct digital I2S connectivity

An integrated 24-bit I2S interface enables direct connection to digital processors and microcontrollers without a separate audio codec. The complete onboard solution incorporates signal conditioning, an analog-to-digital converter, an anti-aliasing filter, and power management.

Omnidirectional acoustic performance

Utilising the MSM261S4030H0 digital silicon chip with a bottom port, the module delivers a flat frequency response from 60 Hz to 15 kHz. High sensitivity of -26 dBFS and a 61 dBA signal-to-noise ratio ensure clear and natural audio capture for near-field applications.

Onboard addressable RGB LED

The module includes an integrated SK9822 series RGB LED with two-wire colour control. This allows for dynamic visual indicators and status feedback directly on the sensor board.

Low-power operation

The module operates from a 1.8V to 3.3V supply with an efficient current consumption of only 1.4 mA. A high power supply rejection ratio of -75 dBFS helps maintain clean audio performance against power rail noise.

Selectable channel pinout

Connection is handled via SCK, WS, SD, VCC, and GND pins alongside an L/R channel selector. Setting the L/R pin low assigns the microphone to the left I2S channel, while setting it high routes data to the right channel.
