HCR Mobile Robot Platform (Support Kinect)

The HCR Mobile Robot Platform is a heavy-duty, two-wheel-drive robotics chassis engineered for advanced prototyping, autonomous navigation, and educational research. Featuring a modular three-tier aluminium frame with a 10 kg payload capacity, it provides an ideal foundation for university laboratories, robotics students, and makers building intelligent service robots.

Modular three-tier aluminium chassis

The rigid orange-coated aluminium frame measures 33 x 33 x 65 cm and supports both two-tier and three-tier assembly configurations. Each level provides spacious mounting points for power supplies, motor controllers, sensor arrays, and larger computing units including mini-ITX motherboards.

High-torque encoder DC drive system

Motion is driven by dual low-noise 12V DC motors running at 146 RPM, paired with large 13 cm rubber drive wheels and an omnidirectional caster wheel for smooth indoor mobility. Integrated motor encoders provide the precise feedback required for closed-loop PID speed regulation and odometry calculation.

Perception and sensor mounting support

The chassis features dedicated mounting locations for up to six ultrasonic sensors to enable 360-degree environmental monitoring, alongside mounting support for infrared rangefinders and vision systems like Kinect. Three collision sensors are also included to implement physical obstacle detection.

Included hardware and assembly tools

The platform ships with the structural chassis plates, the dual motor and rubber wheel kit, an omnidirectional support wheel, and three collision sensors. Assembly is supported by included hardware packages, an eight-pack socket head wrench set, and an 8/10 mm spanner.
