Description
The Gravity VL53L0X ToF Distance Sensor is a compact laser rangefinder that delivers accurate distance measurements from 30 mm up to 2000 mm using Time-of-Flight technology. Because it measures distance based on the transit time of light rather than reflected light intensity, it delivers dependable readings regardless of target colour or surface reflectance. It is ideal for robotics students, hobbyists, and makers requiring obstacle detection or proximity sensing.
Accurate Time-of-Flight measurement
The sensor measures absolute distances from 30 mm up to 2 m with an accuracy of plus or minus 3% and a response time under 30 ms. Operating with a 25-degree field of view, it provides consistent distance data across various target surfaces.
Invisible infrared VCSEL emitter
An integrated 940 nm VCSEL emitter is invisible to the human eye and works alongside a Single Photon Avalanche Diode array. Internal physical infrared filters provide improved immunity to ambient light and reduce cover-glass optical cross-talk.
Plug-and-play Gravity I2C interface
Equipped with a Gravity-I2C interface, the board connects seamlessly to a wide range of microcontrollers. It accepts a standard 3.3 V to 5 V DC power input and operates across an operating temperature range of -20 °C to 70 °C.
Low power consumption
The module uses only 20 mW in normal operation and draws just 5 uA in standby mode, making it suitable for battery-powered hardware. Its compact footprint measures just 20 mm by 22 mm.
