Description
The Gravity UV Index Sensor is a sensitive radiation meter designed to measure ultraviolet light across the 240 to 370nm spectrum, covering UVA, UVB, and UVC bands. It outputs direct UV index and harm risk values over I2C or UART without requiring manual calculations. This makes it an ideal solution for students, educators, and makers building outdoor weather stations, skin-safety monitors, and solar research projects.
Direct index and harm output
The sensor delivers real-time UV index values from 0 to 11 alongside harm risk levels rated from 1 to 5. Because these values are calculated directly on the module, your microcontroller receives instant, actionable data without complex conversion algorithms.
Broad ultraviolet wavelength detection
Operating across the 240nm to 370nm range, the sensor monitors UVA, UVB, and UVC segments with a core focus on the UVB band. This sensitivity profile makes it well suited for tracking environmental solar radiation and assessing potential skin exposure risks.

Dual I2C and UART interfaces
Flexible communication support allows the module to connect via standard I2C at address 0x23 or through UART serial. It operates on a 3.3V to 5V supply, ensuring broad compatibility with standard development boards and microcontroller systems.
Multi-field project applications
This sensor is suited for environmental monitoring, solar panel optimisation, agricultural light tracking, and laboratory material analysis. It can also be integrated into wearable or outdoor safety devices to alert users to excessive sun exposure.
Compact hardware and included cable
Measuring 30mm by 22mm with a wide operating temperature range of -30°C to 80°C, the board is built for reliable indoor and outdoor use. Each unit includes a matching PH2.0 4-pin connecting cable for quick setup.
