Description

The Gravity Text to Speech Voice Synthesizer Module V2.0 gives maker and robotics projects the ability to speak clearly in both English and Chinese. Designed for Arduino, ESP32, micro:bit, and Raspberry Pi, it suits makers, educators, and students building interactive robots, smart sensors, and automated voice alerts.

Bilingual speech synthesis

The module synthesises speech in English, Chinese, and mixed English-Chinese text. It supports text control identifiers to help deliver accurate, natural pronunciation across text reading, voice prompts, and environmental data broadcasts.

Integrated on-board speaker

An integrated speaker allows for immediate audio playback out of the box without requiring external amplification or extra wiring. This compact design simplifies hardware setup and keeps project wiring uncluttered.

Board layout and V2.0 updates

The V2.0 revision improves pronunciation naturalness and reduces errors for polyphone characters. Measuring 42 x 32 mm, the board operates on a 3.3V to 5V power supply across a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.

Gravity I2C and UART connectivity

Equipped with a standard Gravity 4-pin interface, the module supports both I2C and UART communication modes. This allows direct connection to development boards including Arduino, FireBeetle, LattePanda, and Raspberry Pi using the supplied cable.

I2C address compatibility note

The module operates at I2C address 0x40. Because this matches the default address of the micro:bit motor driver board, the two boards cannot be used together on the same I2C bus.
