Description
The Gravity: Ring 2D QR Code Scanner is a compact optical reader capable of decoding standard 1D barcodes and 2D matrix formats. Operating from 3.3V or 5V power supplies with standard Gravity wiring, it provides reliable barcode recognition for student prototypes, maker builds, and commercial automation projects.
Comprehensive 1D and 2D code decoding
The 640x480 pixel optical sensor decodes common 1D symbologies including Code128, EAN13, and Code39, alongside 2D codes like QR Code, Data Matrix, and PDF417. It supports a QR code reading depth of field from 25mm to 150mm with reading accuracy down to 5mil.
Dual UART and I2C interface support
The scanner supports both I2C and UART serial communication and operates on 3.3V or 5V DC with a working current under 70mA. This makes direct integration straightforward with development boards such as Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi.

Integrated visual feedback indicator
A multi-colour ring indicator communicates the current operating and recognition state of the sensor. A flashing green light prompt confirms when a code has been successfully read.
Wide-angle optical scanning coverage
The optical head delivers a 69-degree horizontal and 56-degree vertical scanning field with 360-degree roll, 55-degree pitch, and 55-degree yaw tolerance. It functions reliably in ambient lighting conditions ranging from 0 up to 100,000 Lux.
Designed for self-service and access systems
The compact form factor allows easy panel mounting into automated hardware installations. Common applications include turnstiles, subway gates, access control panels, smart lockers, and payment kiosks.
Included connection hardware
The package includes the Ring 2D QR Code Scanner module, an interface adapter board, and a 30cm PH2.0-4P to Dupont wiring harness.
