Description

The Gravity: MAX30102 PPG Heart Rate and Oximeter Sensor combines an optical sensing chip with an onboard microcontroller that calculates heart rate and blood oxygen levels automatically. It is ideal for students, makers, and hobbyists developing biometric monitors, wearable electronics, and health-tracking projects.

Onboard MCU algorithm processing

The module integrates the Maxim MAX30102 optical sensor with a dedicated microcontroller that executes PPG heart rate and oximetry algorithms on-chip. This offloads resource-heavy calculations from your main development board and outputs ready-to-use biometric data.

Sensor wear and project precautions

Securing the sensor firmly to a finger prevents pressure shifts from disrupting readings, and the module works regardless of wearing orientation. This module is intended for educational and prototyping use and is not a medical device.

Sensor wear and project precautions

Arduino microcontroller connection

The sensor operates at 3.3V or 5V and connects easily to microcontrollers such as the DFRduino UNO R3. It outputs data over I2C at address 0x57 or over UART at a 9600 baud rate.

Raspberry Pi and PC monitoring

Compatible with single-board computers like the Raspberry Pi, the sensor also supports host computer software for direct data visualisation on a PC. This allows straightforward logging for long-term monitoring experiments.

Compact hardware and package contents

Measuring 25.5 by 32 mm, the board operates across temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The kit includes the sensor board, a Gravity 4-pin I2C/UART connector cable, and a finger strap.
