Gravity: LM386 Audio Amplifier Module (4-12V)

The Gravity: LM386 Audio Amplifier Module is a compact analogue amplification board designed to boost weak sound signals and directly drive small speakers. Operating across a versatile 4–12V supply range with low static power draw, it is ideal for students, hobbyists, and makers adding voice prompts or acoustic feedback to robotics and embedded electronics.

Analogue audio amplification architecture

Built around the proven LM386 power amplifier IC, the module delivers a voltage gain of approximately 20 (26dB at 1kHz). It effectively amplifies low-level inputs from microphones, sensors, and audio sources without requiring complex external circuitry.

Low-power battery operation

The module operates across a 4V to 12V DC input range with a low static power consumption of just 24mW at 6V. This energy-efficient profile makes it well suited for portable electronics, mobile robotics, and battery-powered interactive projects.

Audio output and bandwidth

At a 6V supply, the amplifier provides 325mW of output power with a peak output of 500mW and a 300kHz bandwidth. This provides sufficient drive to power small loudspeakers for clear voice and alert playback.

Robotics and sensor compatibility

The compact 45x30mm board integrates cleanly with microphone modules and MP3 acoustic sensor boards for voice interaction and sound synthesis. Its small footprint allows straightforward installation inside tight project housings.
