Description
The Gravity Infrared Light Photo Interrupter Module is a non-contact optical sensor designed for precision motion detection and timing. Featuring an integrated ITR9608 sensor with a 5.0mm gap, it provides an accessible solution for students, makers, and robotics enthusiasts.
ITR9608 optical sensor
The onboard ITR9608 sensor uses a 940nm infrared light beam to detect passing objects. It triggers whenever an opaque material interrupts the optical path between the emitter and detector.
5.0mm slot gap
The sensor features a 5.0mm slot width that accommodates encoder discs, mechanical flags, and moving parts. This non-contact mechanism prevents mechanical wear during operation.
Digital output interface
Equipped with the standard Gravity interface, the module provides a direct digital output signal. This allows straightforward connection to microcontrollers and development boards for rapid prototyping.
Counting and encoder applications
This module is suitable for rotary encoder sensing, linear motion tracking, and automated object counting. It also works reliably as an optical limit switch or speed monitor.
