Description

The Gravity I2C VEML7700 Ambient Light Sensor is a high-accuracy digital illuminance sensor designed for precise environmental light monitoring. Compatible with Arduino and 3.3V to 5V microcontrollers, it directly outputs readings in lux without requiring complex analogue calculations. It is an ideal component for students, educators, and hobbyists developing smart lighting or weather monitoring projects.

Integrated 16-bit digital sensing

The VEML7700 combines a high-sensitivity photodiode, low-noise amplifier, and 16-bit A/D converter on a single chip. It delivers direct digital lux readings rather than raw voltage values, removing the need for manual conversion calculations.

Wide dynamic measurement range

The sensor measures ambient illuminance across a broad range from 0 to 120 klx, with full capability reaching up to 167 klx. It achieves fine resolution with an accuracy rating down to 0.0036 lx per count for accurate dim-light tracking.

Ultra-low power requirements

The module operates on 3.3V to 5V supply voltages with an active working current of just 45 uA. A built-in shutdown mode reduces current consumption to 0.5 uA for battery-powered applications.

Gravity I2C connectivity

Equipped with a standard Gravity I2C interface, this sensor allows straightforward wiring to compatible microcontroller expansion shields. A matching Gravity PH2.0 4-pin cable is included in the package for quick setup.

Compact and durable form factor

With board dimensions of 30 mm by 22 mm and a weight of 12 g, this module fits easily into small enclosures. It reliably operates in temperature environments ranging from -25 deg C to +85 deg C.
