Description

The Gravity: I2C SCD41 Infrared Carbon Dioxide / CO2 Sensor is a compact 3-in-1 environmental monitoring module based on Sensirion's SCD41 sensor. Measuring carbon dioxide, temperature, and relative humidity over an I2C interface, it is ideal for makers, students, and engineers developing indoor air quality monitors, smart ventilation systems, and greenhouse controllers.

Photoacoustic NDIR sensing technology

The module uses photoacoustic NDIR measurement powered by Sensirion PAsens and CMOSens technologies. Pulsing infrared light creates periodic pressure waves as CO2 molecules absorb energy, which an internal microphone detects to calculate concentrations with an accuracy of plus or minus 40 ppm plus 5% MV across a 400 to 5000 ppm range.

Photoacoustic NDIR sensing technology

Integrated 3-in-1 environmental monitoring

In addition to carbon dioxide detection, the SCD41 includes integrated temperature and relative humidity sensing. It provides on-chip signal compensation alongside direct readings for temperatures from -10 to 60 degrees Celsius and relative humidity from 0 to 95% RH.

Integrated 3-in-1 environmental monitoring

Compact size and low power

With PCB dimensions of 32 x 27 x 8 mm, this sensor fits easily into space-constrained projects and enclosures. It operates on 3.3V to 5V power supplies while maintaining an average operating current under 4 mA.

Gravity I2C plug-and-play connectivity

The board communicates over I2C at address 0x62 and connects via the standard Gravity 4-pin interface. It includes a Gravity I2C/UART sensor cable for quick connection to compatible microcontrollers.

Target application scenarios

High CO2 concentrations can impact cognitive performance and well-being, making this sensor suited for indoor air quality tracking. It is equally suited for greenhouse ambient control and automated smart ventilation systems.
