The Gravity: I2C Non-contact IR Temperature Sensor (MLX90614-DCI) is an Arduino-compatible module designed for remote temperature monitoring without physical contact. Featuring a narrow 5-degree field of view, it is suited to makers, educators, and engineers building industrial, automation, or environmental sensing systems requiring extended detection distances.

Featuring a narrow 5-degree field of view, this sensor is tailored for industrial use where longer detection distances are required. It measures surface temperature quickly and accurately by reading emitted infrared radiation rather than requiring thermal equilibrium through direct contact.

Integrated signal processing hardware

The module incorporates an optical system, photoelectric detector, self-calibrating low-noise amplifier, and an internal 17-bit ADC with DSP. This signal processing architecture delivers stable, low-noise temperature readings directly from the sensor.

Wide temperature range

The sensor supports a wide temperature measurement range spanning from -70.01°C to +270°C with a resolution of 0.01°C. It runs on an operating voltage of 3.3V to 5V with a low current draw of 1.2mA.

I2C Gravity interface

The board communicates over an I2C interface with a standard VCC, GND, SCL, and SDA pin sequence for straightforward microcontroller integration. The compact board measures 31.5 by 18 mm and weighs 15g.
