Description
The Gravity: I2C BMI160 6-Axis Inertial Motion Sensor integrates a 16-bit 3-axis accelerometer with an ultra-low-power 3-axis gyroscope into a compact module. It is ideal for students, makers, and developers designing wearable devices, step counters, and motion-tracking robotics projects compatible with 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers.
Integrated 6-axis motion sensing
Powered by the Bosch BMI160 MEMS sensor, this module combines a 16-bit 3-axis accelerometer and a 3-axis gyroscope with 6D detection capabilities. It offers programmable output frequencies from 25/32Hz to 1600Hz, shock resistance up to 1000g, and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
Built-in activity and step detection
The sensor features integrated hardware algorithms for intelligent step counting that can be read directly through registers. It also supports running and fitness detection, inclination measurement, and horizontal or vertical display orientation switching.
Flexible power and I2C level conversion
An onboard LDO power management chip accommodates a 3.2V to 6V input range, while built-in logic level conversion ensures plug-and-play compatibility with 3.3V and 5V controllers. Communication is handled via the standard Gravity I2C interface.
Configurable ranges and onboard FIFO
Users can select accelerometer measurement ranges of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, or ±16g, alongside gyroscope ranges up to ±2000°/s. Data throughput is streamlined using two independent programmable interrupt generators and an internal 1024-byte FIFO buffer.
