Description

The Gravity: I2C 4-20mA DAC Module is a 12-bit digital-to-analogue converter powered by the GP8302 chip, designed to output 0–25mA industrial current signals from standard microcontroller platforms. It bridges microcontrollers such as Arduino to industrial actuators, valves, inverters, and pumps. This module suits makers, students, and engineers building automation, process control, and equipment debugging projects.

Precise current loop control

Powered by the GP8302 DAC chip, the module converts 12-bit digital input values (0x000 to 0xFFF) into a 0–25mA current output. It delivers a baseline accuracy of 0.5%, improving to 0.2% linearity error after calibration for precise 4–20mA industrial signalling.

Precise current loop control

I2C interface and hardware wiring

The module uses standard Gravity I2C communication with an address of 0x58 and accepts 2.7V to 5V digital logic levels. An external 18V to 24V power supply (24V recommended) is required to drive the 4–20mA current loop.

I2C interface and hardware wiring

Load capacity and fast response

It supports a maximum load resistance of 450Ω when powered with 18V, extending up to 750Ω on a 24V supply. The module features a quick start-up time of under 2ms and keeps power consumption below 5mA.

Versatile industrial applications

With an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, the board operates reliably across demanding environments. Typical use cases include function signal generation, automated control for lighting or fountains, and electromechanical equipment testing.

Included in the box

The package includes one Gravity: I2C 4-20mA DAC Module and one Gravity I2C/UART sensor connector cable.
