Description
The Gravity: Formaldehyde (HCHO) Sensor is a high-precision gas detection module designed to measure formaldehyde concentration in the air. Operating from 3.3V to 6V with plug-and-play Gravity connectivity, it is ideal for students, makers, and educators building indoor air quality monitors or IoT environmental stations with Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
Accurate real-time gas sensing
Unlike general VOC sensors or single-use colorimetric cards, this module specifically detects HCHO with a resolution of 0.01 ppm across a 0 to 5 ppm range. Built-in automatic temperature compensation and strong anti-jamming capabilities ensure dependable real-time readings.

Dual DAC and UART outputs
The sensor supports selectable output signals via a 0.4 to 2V DAC linear output or a 9600 baud UART digital stream. This flexible interface pairs easily with standard 3-pin Gravity cables to simplify wiring across diverse microcontroller platforms.
Broad microcontroller compatibility
With a wide input voltage range of 3.3V to 6V, the module connects directly to 3.3V and 5V development boards including Arduino and Raspberry Pi. Fast response and resume times under 60 seconds allow for responsive ambient monitoring.
Reliable two-year operational life
The module provides high stability and a working lifespan of up to two years in standard air environments. It requires a warm-up time of three minutes during regular use, or at least five minutes during initial setup.
Careful handling and usage precautions
To maintain measurement accuracy, avoid touching the white sensing film or exposing the unit to excessive vibration, strong air convection, and high concentrations of organic solvents, alcohol, or carbon monoxide. This module is intended for environmental testing and should not be used in critical human safety systems.
Included mounting and wiring hardware
Each kit includes the HCHO sensor board, a standard digital Gravity 3-pin cable, four M3 10mm nylon standoffs, and eight M3 5mm screws for secure chassis installation.
