Gravity: Digital Shake Sensor

The Gravity Digital Shake Sensor uses a spring-type vibration switch to detect unidirectional hand movement, offering a simple and cost-effective alternative to multi-axis accelerometers. It is ideal for students, hobbyists, and makers looking to add gesture or shake-activated controls to interactive projects.

Unidirectional motion detection

The sensor uses a spring-type vibration switch sensitive exclusively to unidirectional hand movements. When shaken once in the designated direction, it outputs a low-level pulse while flashing an on-board indicator.

Arduino microcontroller setup

The module connects directly to 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers using the standard Gravity 3-pin digital interface. It works seamlessly with boards such as the Arduino Uno for rapid prototyping.

micro:bit project integration

Thanks to its broad voltage support from 3.3V to 5.0V, the sensor pairs easily with 3.3V platforms like the micro:bit via expansion boards such as the micro:mate.

False-trigger prevention

Built-in filter circuitry works alongside the unidirectional switch mechanism to provide strong anti-shock interference resistance. This prevents accidental triggers from general bumps or handling.

Compact and durable build

Measuring just 30.0mm by 22.0mm, this compact module fits neatly into small enclosures and wearables such as shake switches or light sticks. The switch mechanism offers an operating lifespan of over 200,000 cycles.
