Gravity: Digital PIR (Motion) Sensor for Arduino / Raspberry Pi

The Gravity: Digital PIR Motion Sensor detects infrared radiation emitted by humans and animals across a 7-metre range. Operating from 3.3V to 5V, it provides reliable presence detection for makers, students, and developers building automation or security systems with Arduino and Raspberry Pi.

Wide-angle infrared detection

The sensor identifies changes in heat signatures across a 100-degree detection angle and a distance of up to 7 metres. An integrated onboard LED lights up when the output is high to provide instant visual feedback of detected movement.

Continuous trigger output

In continuous trigger mode, the sensor maintains a high-level 3V output for as long as motion persists within its field of view. When activity ceases, the output returns to 0V after an approximate delay of 2.3 to 3 seconds.

Plug-and-play Gravity interface

Featuring a standard PH2.0-3 Gravity interface, the board connects directly to Arduino and Raspberry Pi expansion shields without complicated wiring. Each module includes a matching Gravity digital cable to get projects running immediately.

Ultra-low power consumption

Drawing only 15µA of working current during operation across a 3.3V to 5V input range, the sensor is exceptionally energy efficient. This minimal power draw makes it ideal for long-running battery-powered installations and remote monitoring nodes.

Versatile project applications

Measuring just 30mm by 22mm with an operating temperature tolerance of -20 to 85°C, the module fits neatly into custom enclosures. It is suited for automated room lighting, HVAC occupancy controls, and security alarm triggers.
