Description
The Gravity: BMP581 Barometric Pressure Sensor is a professional-grade digital altimeter and atmospheric monitor powered by the Bosch BMP581 sensor. Delivering ±0.3 hPa absolute accuracy and relative altitude tracking within ±0.5 metres, it suits drone altitude control, indoor navigation, and personal weather stations. With native 3.3V and 5V compatibility, it offers a reliable plug-and-play solution for makers, educators, and robotics developers.
High-precision 24-bit pressure sensing
Equipped with a 24-bit sensing element, the sensor provides ±0.3 hPa absolute accuracy and ultra-low noise below 0.1 Pa across a 30 to 125 kPa range. It achieves a relative altitude accuracy of ±0.5 metres and limits temperature drift to ±0.5 Pa/K for consistent vertical tracking.

Hardware filtering and buffer processing
The module includes built-in digital linearity compensation algorithms, an integrated hardware FIFO buffer, and a configurable IIR filter. This onboard processing smooths signal disturbances directly in hardware, freeing up processing capacity on the host microcontroller.
Dual I2C and UART connectivity
Supporting both I2C and UART protocols, the board connects easily via standard Gravity PH2.0-4P or 2.54 mm pin headers. Onboard voltage translation ensures seamless plug-and-play operation with both 3.3V and 5V logic systems without external level shifters.
Efficient low-power operation
Operating at approximately 700 μA, the sensor integrates non-volatile memory to retain configuration settings across power cycles. This power-conscious design extends battery life in portable data loggers, wearables, and remote IoT nodes.
Versatile flight and navigation applications
The sensor delivers precise vertical feedback for quadcopter altitude hold, floor-level detection, and GPS dead-reckoning. It is equally suited for barometric weather monitoring stations and hiking altimeters.
