Description
The Gravity: Analog Grayscale Sensor measures reflected light intensity on a spectrum ranging from black to white. It is ideal for students, educators, and hobbyists building interactive Arduino projects such as automatic lighting and line-following robots.
Reflective grayscale detection
This sensor measures surface reflectivity across the black-and-white spectrum, returning the weakest intensity for black and strongest for white. Whatever colour is scanned, the output is converted and delivered purely as an analogue grayscale value.

Integrated photocell and LED
The module pairs a light-controlled variable resistor with an onboard forward-facing white LED to illuminate target surfaces. This integrated light source provides stable reflective feedback for accurate light range comparisons.
Practical automation and robotics applications
The sensor can trigger relays to automate night lamps, follow lines on mobile robot chassis, or capture optical data signals such as Morse code transmitted via torchlight.
Flexible 3.3V to 5V operation
With a wide operating voltage range from 3.3V to 5V, this analogue sensor integrates directly with 3.3V microcontrollers and standard 5V Arduino boards.
Robust hardware design
Built with an immersion gold surface finish and a high-durability connector, the board features clear analogue interface markings and standard 3mm mounting holes spaced at 5cm multiples.
Compact dimensions and included cable
Measuring 22mm by 30mm, the package includes one Analog Grayscale Sensor V2 module and one compatible analogue sensor cable.
