Description

The Gravity: Analog AC Current Sensor (5A) provides a safe, non-contact method to measure alternating current without cutting or soldering mains wires. It pairs an open-type current transformer clamp with an analog signal conversion board, making it an ideal sensing solution for students, makers, and engineers.

Non-contact transformer clamp

The open-type current transformer probe clips directly around an AC wire to measure current from 0 to 5A safely. It outputs a 0 to 1V AC voltage through a standard 3.5mm audio jack without disrupting existing electrical connections.

Microcontroller connection setup

The signal conversion module accepts an input voltage of 3.3V to 5.5V and produces an analog DC output between 0.2V and 2.8V. This ensures straightforward plug-and-play operation with 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers such as Arduino boards.

Household appliance power monitoring

Using an Arduino UNO, users can read analog values to track real-time power consumption of domestic electrical loads. It is suitable for automated AC motor monitoring, air compressors, and lighting installations.

Probe build and precision

Featuring a 13 x 13 mm clamp aperture, the probe delivers ±1% accuracy and non-linearity of under ±0.2% across a 50Hz to 1kHz frequency range. It includes a 1-metre cable and operates across temperatures from -25 °C to +70 °C.

Complete sensor package

The kit includes one AC current signal conversion module, one 5A open-type AC transformer probe, and one standard Gravity 3-pin analog connection cable.
