Description

The Gravity 6×6 Flexible Array Tactile Pressure Sensor is an ultra-thin matrix sensor featuring 36 independent detection points across a compact 15×15mm sensing area. Designed for intelligent robotic grippers, biomechanics research, and human-machine interfaces, it streams real-time pressure heatmaps over UART. It is fully compatible with Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi platforms for rapid prototyping.

Arranged in a 6×6 grid with a 2.5mm pitch, the 36 sensing points generate real-time pressure distribution heatmaps across the 15×15mm sensing area. A fast response time under 10µs ensures accurate data capture for dynamic force monitoring.

Ultra-thin and flexible design

The bendable thin-film sensor features adhesive backing and connects to a compact 20×12mm adapter board. This low-profile electronic skin conforms directly to curved surfaces and robotic grippers without requiring structural modifications.

Streamlined UART communication

The UART interface streams data from all 36 channels directly, eliminating the need to construct complex multi-channel analogue circuitry. It includes a 30cm flexible silicone cable and supports multi-sensor cascading for expanded tactile surfaces.

Durable FPC construction

Constructed from flexible printed circuit material, the sensor delivers ±5% repeatability over a service life exceeding one million cycles. It maintains reliable mechanical performance across an operating temperature range of -20°C to +65°C.

Wide dynamic range and calibration

Each detection point measures compression forces between 20g and 5kg, accommodating both sensitive touch inputs and high-force mechanical clamping. The board supports configurable 20Hz and 50Hz sampling rates to match host microcontroller serial read loops.
