Description

The Gravity: 4×8 Flexible Array Tactile Pressure Sensor is a compact, high-density matrix sensing solution featuring 32 independent pressure points across a 20 x 10mm active area. It provides real-time spatial force distribution mapping over UART for Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi systems. It is ideal for robotics researchers, makers, and students developing smart grippers, wearable electronics, and tactile human-machine interfaces.

Structured with 8 columns and 4 rows at a 2.5mm pitch, this flexible matrix captures real-time spatial pressure heatmaps across 32 individual points. A response time below 10μs enables precise tracking of dynamic contact changes during robotic gripping and tactile manipulation.

Compact profile for curved surfaces

Featuring a 20 x 10mm sensing area, a 20 x 12mm adapter board, and an adhesive backing, this thin-film sensor mounts easily into space-constrained projects without mechanical redesigns. The bendable construction allows it to conform directly to curved contact surfaces for electronic skin applications.

Digital UART interface with cascading

The sensor uses digital UART communication to stream matrix data directly to microcontrollers without requiring complex external analog acquisition circuitry. It supports cascading for multi-sensor arrays and runs at selectable sampling frequencies of 20Hz or 50Hz on 5V power.

Durable FPC construction

Built from flexible printed circuit material, the sensor resists thermal deformation and operates reliably between -20°C and +65°C. It is rated for over 1,000,000 cycles at 1kg force, maintaining ±5% repeatability across a 20g to 5kg pressure range per sensing point.

Complete prototyping kit

The package includes one 4×8 flexible array pressure sensor, one dedicated adapter board, and a 30cm flexible silicone connection cable for straightforward wiring and integration.
