FireBeetle Covers 24×8 LED Matrix Display (White, HT1632C)

The FireBeetle Covers 24×8 LED Matrix Display is a compact visual expansion board featuring 192 individually addressable white LEDs powered by an HT1632C driver. Designed for the low-power FireBeetle ecosystem and standard Arduino microcontrollers, it provides a clean graphical readout for IoT nodes, wearable tech, and maker projects.

HT1632C driver and pixel control

The onboard HT1632C driver provides independent register control over every pixel in the 24×8 array for rendering sharp text, symbols, and custom graphics. It communicates via a serial interface supported by Arduino libraries, minimising I/O pin overhead on host microcontrollers.

Ultra-low power consumption

Engineered for energy-conscious IoT builds, the display draws only 5uA in low-power mode with an active operating current of 6mA to 100mA. An integrated 256KHz RC clock allows the controller to function independently while preserving battery life in remote sensor applications.

Brightness adjustment and dynamic scrolling

A 16-level PWM brightness control allows for fine-tuning visibility across diverse lighting conditions without unnecessary power drain. The board natively supports smooth scrolling display effects, making it suitable for live status updates, notifications, and digital clock animations.

Selectable chip-select pins and compatibility

Operating at 3.3V to 5V, the board features selectable chip-select lines across D2, D3, D4, and D5 to simplify multi-module wiring. It is directly compatible with the FireBeetle series as well as standard Arduino boards like the Uno and Beetle.

Compact footprint and included headers

With a slim 24mm by 58mm footprint and an operating temperature range of -10°C to +85°C, the display fits neatly into tight project enclosures. The package includes two 18-pin male headers and two 18-pin female headers for flexible soldering and stacking.
