Description
The Fermion URM37 V5.0 Ultrasonic Distance Sensor Breakout is a versatile ranging module offering a detection span from 2cm to 800cm with integrated temperature compensation. Compatible with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and LattePanda, it provides multiple output formats including RS232/TTL serial, PWM, analog voltage, and switch triggers. It is well suited for makers, educators, and robotics developers building proximity detectors, level monitors, or spatial scanning systems.
Extended range with temperature compensation
The URM37 V5.0 measures distances from 2cm up to 800cm with a 1cm resolution and 1% accuracy across an operating voltage range of 3.3V to 5.5V. An integrated temperature compensation circuit maintains measurement stability during environmental shifts, supported by an on-board sensor that reads ambient temperatures with 0.1°C resolution.
Versatile output and communication interfaces
This breakout supports analog voltage output proportional to distance, PWM signals, and serial communication. A hardware button allows easy switching between RS232 and TTL serial logic levels upon reboot, while reverse power protection safeguards the board during wiring.
Proximity switching and servo scanning
Users can configure a threshold distance so the module acts as a proximity switch, dropping the COMP/Trig pin low when an obstacle enters range. In non-automatic mode, the module can also control an external servo to perform 180-degree obstacle scanning, retaining configuration settings in 123 bytes of internal EEPROM.
Beam angle and environmental guidance
Because of its high sensitivity, the sensor performs most reliably in open spaces where low-lying surfaces or complex obstacles do not cause unwanted acoustic reflections. Referencing the sensor beam angle profile ensures optimal positioning within your mechanical design.
